Visiting Hours - Album Release Party

Sons of the Force announce the official release of our debut album - Visiting Hours.

Visiting Hours is a modern take on classic rock that explores the life of a man who's watching it all slowly crumble around him. At turns, tender and contemplative then self-destructive and damaged, our protagonist is complex and strikingly dynamic, much like the songs that tell his story.

"Little Sister", a blues drenched slow burner, opens our view into his life at the smoky formica dining table of his youth. He's keeping his head down, but laughing to himself as his controlling father tries to find a way to reign in his sister's youthful escapades. In "Of Goats and Mullets", an 80s hard-rock inspired road trip song, he's growing up and on the prowl for a mate with the T-tops down and a six pack in the trunk - he's carefree and life is easy.

The alternatingly shambolic and moody "Drunken Master" is an exploration of a problem ridden relationship where we find him slipping into the patterns he may have observed as a child in his father. "Mirrored Dreams", a riff heavy banger, shows him losing a grip on his ideal life. "Principle of the Thing" is a surprisingly introspective and tender plea to his lover to let him be who he is.

"Fragile Child" an epic and hugely dynamic tale where he's observing the wonder of a child's life stunted by the overprotection of a controlling parent (or possibly a stifling societal pressure). Is this episode autobiographical from his youth or is it reflective of his fatherhood and a wish to see his child escape the pain he himself experienced.

In "The Philosopher", we find him at numerous bar stools throughout his adulthood, contemplating a wasted life. Closing out the album, the titular track follows the protagonist's slow descent into mental illness brought about by chemical experimentation and the slide into abuse.
